***What Blog Platform Is Best For You?***
Once you commit to keeping a blog regularly you will want to stay with your
chosen platform. Switching horses in midstream is at best no fun, and at
worst, painful. Lori's article this month -(see below)- addresses the point
that successful social social media efforts are the result of careful
planning.

Small businesses are short on marketing budgets, so lets talk about free —
one of my favorite things! Free blogs have limitations — especially when it
comes to including advertising and linking to items you sell. But if you are
a small business that wants to use a blog to establish your expertise and
generate more traffic to your website, then free is the way to go.

***LORI'S CORNER***
3 Steps To Building An Online Marketing Strategy
Are you using any of today's hot social networking tools for business? Sites
like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter are the rage right now, but have you
ever stopped to think how you'll use them to build your business?

Just because the news is filled with stories on Twitter doesn't mean you have
to have a Twitter account. Just because they talk about Facebook on your
favorite radio show doesn't mean you have to create your own account. All of
these tools can be complete time wasters unless you know exactly why you'll
be using them, and how they will ultimately help your business.

marketing strategy: http://www.siteducky.com/resources.lori_s_corner.online_marketing_strategy.html

about how your social media fans (your followers on Facebook, for example)
are more likely to buy your product: http://www.emarketer.com/Article.aspx?R=1007568

This is good food for thought for those of us with small businesses. We may
be rightfully dragged kicking and screaming into the social media world —it
can be a fruitless time waster— but it is not a fad that is going to go
away. To dive in and learn now means profit in the long term.

***Duck Joke***
A duck walks into a bar and asks the bartender if he has any corn. The
bartender looks up, says no, and goes back to wiping down the bar. The duck
repeats his question, "Do you have any corn?" "NO", the bartender repeats a
little louder, getting irritated. "Hey, you got any corn?" repeats the duck,
also a little louder." I said NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" the bartender emphasizes even
louder. "Got corn?" the duck repeats yet again.

The bartender has lost all patience now and is red in the face as he yells
"Don't you get it? No spells NO and if you don't shut up I'll nail your beak
to the bar!" The duck thinks for a minute. "Got any nails?" "No," the
bartender sighs. "In that case... got any corn?"

***Staff Q&A***
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Dawn: Mackinac Island, Lake Michigan
Rosemarie: Asheville, North Carolina!!! -(Lucky for Rosemarie - that's where
she lives!)-
Lynn: Norway.....IN THE SUMMER!!!! Not in the winter!
Eliza: Boring, but right now Asheville is right where I want to be! If money
were no object, NYC or London would top the list.
