Urban Seed Update

Launch of Urban Bean Cafe
You are warmly invited to attend the launch of Urban Seed's new social enterprise in Geelong, 'Urban Bean'. The cafe brings fresh energy and community engagement to Labuan Square through local staff, local produce and, of course, good ethical coffee. Details are here.

SURRENDER Conference
SURRENDER's mission is to invite, inspire and inform an emerging generation to respond to the radical call of Jesus. It will run from Friday 5th - Monday 8th March 2010 at Belgrave Heights Convention Centre. Urban Seed is among the seven founding partners of SURRENDER, and a number of our staff and Credo community members are involved in organisation, providing hospitality and running seminars. It's set to be a fantastic weekend. For more information or to register visit www.surrender.org.au.

New residents move in, projects begin afresh
We're delighted to welcome five new Urban Seed residents for 2010. Meet them on our website, or join us for lunch and meet them in person. Residency forms a vital part of Urban Seed's work among marginalised people. Many of our staff members, in both city and regional areas, actively choose to live in impoverished neighbourhoods. We have found that poverty is best overcome through genuine, mutual relationships, where the energy, knowledge and resources of local leaders are thoughtfully engaged, and connected with broader support structures. Residents are involved with a range of Urban Seed's projects, including Credo Cafe, the Longroom and Edge, all of which have kicked off again for the year.

Credo Cricket celebrates Australia Day and Indian Republic Day
Urban Seed's Credo Cricket and Cricket Victoria partnered to do what they do best on January 26, hosting a fun match between Victoria Police and Indian students. The Jai Ho Festival at the Myer Music Bowl celebrated both Australia Day and Indian Republic Day, and was the perfect location to celebrate the connections cricket can make between our nations. Even Chief Police Commissioner Simon Overland attended. More.

More information on our projects can be found on our website.
