New CD

Sales of Siobhan's first CD "Purely Celtic" have been very pleasing, so we felt it was time she went back to the studio (Chapel Lane Studios in Adelaide) to record a new album. Siobhan's voice is ever changing and maturing, and she is developing a unique vocal style for her Celtic songs, for which she now accompanies herself with harp.

The album, which includes Celtic, Classical and Sacred songs, will hopefully be launched in September - so keep tuned!

New harp

In March of last year, Siobhan was invited to sing at the Adelaide Fringe Festival by French singer/harpist Cecile Corbel, after they met on Myspace! Siobhan was so inspired by Cecile's harp playing that she started taking lessons herself. At the end of the year we commissioned South Australian harp maker and luthier, Tim Guster, to make Siobhan a new harp. Siobhan chose a Celtic style 36 string lever harp in Maple and Pine. Siobhan received her beautiful new harp at the end of April this year, and 3 days later took it to Glen Innes to play at the Australian Celtic Festival!

See how Siobhan's new harp was made.

Siobhan took her first harp exam (AMEB Grade 2) in April this year, and was pleased to receive an A (Honours).

Awards

In November 2008, Siobhan received an A (Honours) in her AMEB Grade 5 Singing exam. She was also chosen as the 2008 AMEB Grade 5 Singing Award Winner.

Earlier this year Siobhan was notified that she had been nominated in two sections of the SA Folk Awards - the "Most Outstanding Vocalist" and the "Most Outstanding New or Emerging Artist".  There were 3 finalists in each section, and Siobhan was up against some very tough opposition!  At the Awards Night in June it was announced that she'd won the "Most Outstanding New or Emerging Artist" and had been close runner up for the "Most Outstanding Vocalist" award.

Festivals

Siobhan's first performance at a Celtic Festival was the 2007 Port Adelaide Celtica Festival, when she was 14. In 2008 she performed at the Kapunda Celtic Festival, Fleurieu Folk Festival and Celtica Festival.

Developing a love of performing Celtic music, this year Siobhan applied at 3 big interstate Festivals. She was accepted and performed at the National Folk Festival, Canberra, in April, the Australian Celtic Festival, Glen Innes (NSW), in May and the National Celtic Festival, Portarlington, in June.

Siobhan has also been booked to perform at the Kapunda Celtic Festival in September, the Fleurieu Folk Festival in October and the Port Adelaide Celtica Festival in December.  In January 2010 she will be travelling to Tasmania to perform at the Cygnet Folk Festival and Tamar Valley Folk Festival, then in March she'll be in Victoria for the Ecucha Moama Festival.
