The 3.2 mile Berry Picker starts at 8 a.m. in LionsHead at an elevation of 8,238 feet and ascends to 10,346 feet to finish at the top of Eagle’s Nest. The average grade is 12 percent on single track trails and double-wide gravel paths. Pre-registration is $25, $35 day-of. The Eagle Bahn Gondola is open from 8 to 9 a.m. for spectators.

Eagle Bahn Gondola in LionsHead, Open Daily
The Eagle Bahn Gondola runs daily Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. The cost is $22 for adults ages 13-64; children ages 5-12, $15 or free with paid adult (max 3 children per adult); $15 for seniors ages 65 and up; children 4 and under are free. Also, all 2009-10 and 2010-11 pass holders ride free. Lift & Lunch packages start at $27, including a $15 food and beverage credit. Evening Beaver Pond Tour, Vail Nature Center

Beavers are one of the animals that define the Rocky Mountains and Vail is lucky to have a healthy beaver population right in town. Courage Classic Bike Ride
Passing through West to East/Stephens Park
The Courage Classic Bike Ride is a 3-day, 157-mile tour that climbs from Leadville to Summit County and back. On the first day, the 58-mile leg with a 3,985 ft. elevation gain starts at Leadville Highway 24 past Ski Copper and the Continental Divide, then climbs up Battle Mountain and Tennessee Pass. It descends into Minturn and into Vail for the first day’s lunch stop. After lunch, the riders travel over Vail Pass and into Copper Mountain. The ride raises money in support of the Denver Children’s Hospital.

Vail Gymnastics Summer Camp, Vail Gymnastics Center
July 26-30, Ages 4 and older
Returning for a second summer, this week-long summer camp is for children ages 4 and older and not only includes gymnastics, but also outdoor adventures such as hiking, visiting local parks and excursions to Dobson Ice Arena, Imagination Station, Vail Nature Center and more. Children are grouped according to age and skill level. Vail Skatepark
Drop in (literally) at the Vail Skatepark, located on the top level of the LionsHead parking structure. It’s free and open to the public, summer through fall, dawn to dusk. Youth, ages 7 to 14, can join skateboard clinics from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays throughout the summer. Private lessons are also available. Helmets are required. Located at Eagle's Nest on Vail Mountain, the Adventure Ridge facilities feature  horseback rides, climbing wall, trampoline, disc golf, lawn sports, guided nature hikes and more. Starting June 24, open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
