Amity Scholar hosting
Do you have extra room in your house? Would you and your family be willing to open up your doors to a person from another country? BSM is currently looking for host families for each of our three amities for the second semester of this 2010-2011 school year. Our amities this year hail from France, Argentina, and Spain and are one man and two women. The preferred host stay length is for the semester. Please contact Ms. Mary Windsor at mwindsor@bsm-online.org or at 952-927-4176, ext. 2298, if you are interested in hosting one of these amities. The amities work at BSM as teachers’ aides and help to foster cultural connections with students through their first-person experiences. Amities are typically in their mid-20s and provide invaluable opportunities for students to learn about themselves and others. Please consider hosting one of our amities this year. If you are interested in more information about the program, you can visit www.amity.org/.
Rwanda 2011 trip spots
There are very limited spots remaining for the Rwanda 2011 experience. Registration forms and deposit checks can be turned in to Mr. Kuntz (room 132) and Mr. Cave (room 129). Participation is especially encouraged for students taking Latin, as well as those taking AP European History and Arts in the Church, but the tour is open to any BSM students. BSM parents and alumni are also welcome to travel with us, though space is limited. The planned itinerary (subject to change) includes Venice, Florence, Pisa, Orvieto, Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri.
