Welcome to the February Update from
Breathing Better Living Well!

Happy February, and thank you for taking the time to open this email. Come on in...join me for a few minutes and I'll show you what's new and exciting at Breathing Better Living Well. I promise...you'll learn something new!
Google it! I'm sure you know how that works. You type in a few key words or a question and it brings you to a list of websites that give you answers. Well, through our web tracking we looked at hundreds of oxygen searches typed in by our visitors and found the ten most common. We then asked our top lung professionals for answers -- and here they are. Many thanks to our BBLW Contributing Professionals for making the time to answer these important questions!
Note: As always our contributing professionals are not responsible, nor liable, for information found on the Breathing Better Living Well website. Their answers here are not intended as medical advice but information only. Your own doctor knows you best, so we encourage you to discuss this information with him or her for advice appropriate to your individual situation.
Visit our Basics page for Your Top Ten Oxygen Questions - Answered!
New Pulse Oximeter Did you know that you can check your oxygen level at home? Ask your doctor if having your own pulse oximeter would be a good idea for you. The Nonin GO2 is now linked from our bookstore. It's a neat little device and very reasonably priced. Of course, as with any kind of technical equipment, you have to first understand what the numbers mean and then act responsibly with that information.
Denial It's not just a river in Egypt, but a huge issue in COPD! In COPD and Denial: A Common Thread - Parts I and II, I invite you to come along with Travis on a fascinating timeline from his 30's up to today.
COPD Myths - Busted! Do you ever hear people say something and wonder, "Is that really true?" Living With COPD: Ten Myths - Busted! takes a look at things commonly said about COPD. Check is out and see if you have it right... or if you're busted.
You can find my last ten articles on Health Central by scrolling down to the widget at the bottom of our home page.
Love and Romance I know Valentine's Day has passed, but that doesn't mean you can't share affection with the one you love all year long. Even if you are limited by COPD, you can still express yourself intimately. Click on our Basics page and scroll down to "COPD and Intimacy" for links to great information on this important subject.
COPD For Dummies Now in our bookstore, COPD for Dummies!
Ask the RT - Respiratory Therapist Q & A Thanks to our very own team of RT's, (they're no dummies!) you can ask more questions and get more answers. The BBLW "Ask the RT" forum is staffed by one or two of our six RT's each day of the week. Just go to our Community page and you'll find the forum. As always, anybody and everybody can read info on our Community page, but to ask a question or make a comment, you have to be a member. This is easy to do and as always, free of charge. Come on in and get to know Larry, Jen, Sandy, Craig, Kim and Jane (that's me). We'd love to hear from you!
Caregivers Need Support too! Our Community is buzzing with another new forum, "Caregivers' Window." Being a caregiver and / or wellspouse to a person with COPD or other chronic lung disease is not easy. You need information and support, too! Stop in and chat with Ray and Lori. They've been there, and they have a wealth of knowledge to share and shoulder to lean on.
'Ease' Stent for COPD Many of you are asking about the new Stent for COPD Here's a great link to a video that shows you just how it works.
We're on Facebook! Come see our BBLW Facebook page for photos, links, and more that you might not find on our site.
Massage for COPD? That's right. In our "All About Living" Blog, Peg, another member of our BBLW team, shares with us what works wonders to get rid of tightness and tension and improve her breathing. Read Peg’s blog about massage. Hint: You’ve just gotta see the picture!
Well, that's about all for now. I hope you always know that at BBLW if you ask, we'll do our best to listen. And we do it because we love our readers, and we what we do -- with all our heart.
Breathe well today my friends. Stay in touch and I’ll see you soon!Jane.
