225-389-4495 Melancon Endorses Pelosi's Deceptive Tactics
(Baton Rouge) - Despite all of Charlie Melancon’s efforts to avoid tough votes on Barack Obama’s reckless expansion of government health care entitlements, he couldn’t avoid one on the House floor last night.
A resolution to force and up and down vote on the costly health care legislation that voters in Louisiana soundly reject was defeated. Instead, the Democrat leadership will employ the suspect “Slaughter Solution” to “Deem and Pass” the Senate bill in act of political deception and desperation.
Every Republican and 10 Democrats stood up to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi in protest of their partisan and misleading tactics. Charlie Melancon was not one of them.
“Charlie Melancon’s decision to stand hand in hand with Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama and endorse their deceptive “Deem Scheme” to force government-run health care on the people of Louisiana clearly demonstrates where Melancon’s loyalties lie,” said Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger F. Villere, Jr. “This bill is bad public policy that will raise taxes and premiums while gutting Medicare services for Louisiana seniors. Melancon couldn’t run and hide from this vote and when forced to choose he sided with San Francisco liberal Nancy Pelosi over the people of Louisiana.”
