| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March11th, 2010 CONTACT: Aaron Baer 225-389-4495 Charlie Melancon: Too Busy For Louisianians, Doing What? Last week Charlie Melancon quit his post on the House Budget Committee saying he wasn't able to juggle all of his responsibilities and that he wanted to focus on the Energy and Commerce Committee. Yesterday the House Energy and Commerce Committee held a hearing, but where was Charlie Melancon? No time Melancon skipped the hearing.
“Charlie Melancon said last week that he quit the Budget Committee because he was struggling to manage his time and that he wanted to focus on the Energy and Commerce Committee,” said Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger F. Villere, Jr. “He claims to feel a responsibility to his constituents but he hasn’t held a town hall meeting in nearly a year and he doesn’t seem be to working in Washington either. Just what does Melancon do with his time?”
Melancon skipped his committee hearing this week but was able to find time recently to attend a fundraiser at a liberal millionaire’s mansion in New York City.
“Louisiana needs a Senator who will work hard every day for us and for the issues that are important to us, and that someone is David Vitter,” Villere said.
