September 2009 Welcome to the September issue of District Council Direct, a monthly e-mail newsletter created for CAP’s District Council members. This month’s issue brings you information CAP’s upcoming events as well as news that will interest our District Council members. CAP News CAP Shares Unique Strengths at MGIS Panel Discussions CAP is one of five companies invited to participate in a series of three panel discussions sponsored by the California Medical Group Managers Association and moderated by Medical Group Insurance Services, Inc. (MGIS). The first panel discussion took place in Sacramento on September 9, and the second occurred in Daly City on September 17. Bill West, vice president, Membership Development, is CAP’s official representative on all three panels. “The panel discussions are an excellent opportunity for medical group mangers to learn what drives pricing for each carrier and to compare the differences in our risk management programs,” said Senior Account Executive Daniel Cavanaugh, who attended the two meetings. “Bill West did an excellent job highlighting CAP’s unique strengths in both of these key areas of particular interest to group managers.” The final panel discussion takes place in Modesto on November 19. CAP Prepares for Launch of Next Quarterly Direct Mail Campaign Next month CAP will launch the final quarterly direct mail campaign of 2009. The multi-pronged approach is designed to generate new leads, increase exhibit booth traffic, and increase overall awareness of CAP. The primary component of the fourth quarter mailing will be a letter authored by Greg Lizer, MD, and a follow up postcard. The fourth quarter campaign also incorporates mailings and postcards targeted to specific groups. For example, a customized postcard will be sent to “old leads” – physicians who previously responded to a campaign in the past two years. To target prospective group practitioners, CAP will send letters authorized by various CAP members reflecting their personal experiences with our organization. District Council News Tweeting from Abroad CAP’s newest Twitter friend is http://twitter.com/wplasticsurgery, the joint Twitter account of CAP Board member Tammy Wu, MD, and Central District Council member Calvin Lee, MD.
