Rebakery

Friends, music-makers, dreamers of the dreams,

Next week marks two years since I rolled out Rebakery in dark of night, in the softest of soft launches. As a contrasting gesture, I'm marking the occasion with a first-ever newsletter and an east coast launch party (details below).

Since launch, the project has incubated a couple CDs' worth of original, derivative, and collaborative work, across a spectrum of genres—mostly in the electronic band of that spectrum—from dubs to technoes to slow jamz to noize, with a notable collective affinity for ad-libbed vocal parts. But that should by no means limit the scope of future work!

The site itself has undergone a series of overhauls and tune-ups, including: bounding visualizations of piece tree hierarchies (with slicker audio players), a dense-but-I-hope-engaging About page, a robust multi-file uploader, and a number of other goodies.

So do drop by if you haven't in a while. Musicians, feel free to browse around for pieces you might like to mix, for kicks or just for musical push-ups. Or, if you have any audio work kicking around that you'd like to hear scrambled, churned around, or lovingly massaged, pls feed it into the system!

If you're in the New York area, come by the studio next Thursday for a rousing game of exquisite corpse or some similar non-competitive collaborative production game. It will be a shitshow in the best possible way.

Rebakery 2nd Anniversary Bake-Off*
Thurs June 11th @ 7pm
55 S 11th St, #2F—by Marcy JMZ in So W'burg (call 415 250 1148 if the door's not open)

And, as ever, if you know anyone with a predilection for audio plundering or derivative work, pls pass an invite along!

Waveforms,
Adam Florin

* The thing is, once you get started with the baking metaphors, it's really, really hard to stop.
