Inside this issue... Who Are You?Hi <<First Name>>, Have you ever seen someone you recognized but just couldn't place? You know they look familiar, but you can't remember why? That happened to me last night.
I attended a meeting of the Biola Studio Task Force, a Christian film industry networking group. When I first walked in, a woman nearby caught my attention. I recognized her, but couldn't place who she was or how I knew her.
When we sat down to eat, I saw her name tag. It was Sheri Rose Shepherd, a nationally known speaker and author who's spoken at some local conferences I helped with. Then her husband mentioned that we met last April at the annual Biola Media Conference.
We all realized we had met before, but just couldn't recall names and faces immediately. Sometimes in situations like that, I'm tempted to bluff my way until I can figure out what the connection is. But I don't want to "fake it until I make it." If I can't remember, I'll just say so. So if you see me and I should remember your name but don't, please don't take it personally. I won't be offended if you can't remember mine.

Angela Walker ChristianCinema.com Industry Interview Christians in Cinema: Tracy Trost by Angela Walker Tracy Trost built a career shooting videos for other people. Simultaneously he was building a business that now allows him the freedom to follow a dream: directing a motion picture. Challenged by his employees to do something about his dream, he spent vacation time writing the script for a film called Find Me about a new mania sweeping the country: geocaching. What was the jumping-off point to make a feature film?
Tracy: In our business, we do weekly book meetings, and the sole purpose of these is to get a unified vision within the company so we're all thinking along the same lines. If I can help my people be thinking in the right direction, we can all be working in the same direction, doing the same thing in the business. One of the books we were going through asked the question... Rev. Marvin Winans Delivers in Tyler Perry's New Film Grammy® award winner Marvin Winans is a singer, songwriter, organist, pianist, preacher/pastor and actor. When Pastor Winans was invited to audition for Tyler Perry's latest film I Can Do Bad All By Myself, he was flattered and shocked, but ready to help his friend out. Of his preaching scene, Tyler Perry said that it was so anointed he chose not to cut anything from it, but to include it in its entirety in the finished film. I spoke with Pastor Winans about the film and his music the day the movie opened in theaters nationwide.

Movie Review: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Review by Angela Walker

Even before the first scene begins, you get glimpses of the humor that's rampant in this film. During the credits, there's a clever take on the usual "Film by…" credit line, and a symbol familiar to every moviegoer gets into the act. It's just the beginning of the humor, both subtle and overt, that infuses the movie.
The story is very poignant and has a strong emphasis on the relationship between Flint and his dad (wonderfully voiced by James Caan). Flint's dad wants him to be someone different because he seems to fit into normal life better that way. He's also plagued by what he thinks are colossal failures. But in the end, we learn it's important to be an individual and be true to yourself, and that failures are just things that happen on the way to success.
Kids will love this film, and while it may seem like it's geared toward that audience, as adults we can learn something from Flint's journey. This is a delightful film with good lessons for everyone. Now if they could only invent movies that deliver smell as well as sight and sound.
