Inside this issue... Who Are You?Hi <<First Name>>, Have you ever been to the grocery store and seen someone you recognized but just couldn't place them? You know that you know them, but you can't remember how? That happened to me last night.
I attended a meeting of the Biola Studio Task Force, one of my favorite film industry networking groups that meets at the CBS Studio Lot. When I first walked in, a woman nearby caught my attention. I recognized her, but couldn't place who she was or how I knew her.
When we sat down to eat, we were at the same table and I saw her name tag. It was Sheri Rose Shepherd, a nationally known speaker and author who's spoken at some conferences I worked on. Then her husband mentioned that we met last April at the annual Biola Media Conference.
We all realized we had met before, but just couldn't recall names and faces immediately. Sometimes in situations like that, I'm tempted to bluff my way until I can figure out what the connection is. But I want to be as honest and transparent as possible. I don't want to "fake it until I make it." If I can't remember, I'll just say so. So if you see me and I should remember your name but don't, please don't take it personally. I won't be offended if you can't remember mine.

Angela Walker ChristianCinema.com Industry Interview Christians in Cinema: Tracy Trost by Angela Walker Tracy Trost built a career shooting videos for other people. Simultaneously he was building a business that now allows him the freedom to follow a dream: directing a motion picture. Challenged by his employees to do something about his dream, he spent vacation time writing the script for a film called Find Me about a new mania sweeping the country: geocaching. What was the jumping-off point to make a feature film?
Tracy: In our business, we do weekly book meetings, and the sole purpose of these is to get a unified vision within the company so we're all thinking along the same lines. If I can help my people be thinking in the right direction, we can all be working in the same direction, doing the same thing in the business. One of the books we were going through asked the question... Rev. Marvin Winans Delivers in Tyler Perry's New Film Grammy® award winner Marvin Winans is a singer, songwriter, organist, pianist, preacher/pastor and actor. When Pastor Winans was invited to audition for Tyler Perry's latest film I Can Do Bad All By Myself, he was flattered and shocked, but ready to help his friend out. Of his preaching scene, Tyler Perry said that it was so anointed he chose not to cut anything from it, but to include it in its entirety in the finished film. I spoke with Pastor Winans about the film and his music the day the movie opened in theaters nationwide.

Movie Review: Find Me Review by Angela Walker

First-time writer/director Tracy J. Trost has a strong start on feature-film production. With a micro budget (under $50,000) and very few film professionals among his cast and crew he produces a movie that looks like it was done on a bigger budget.
He also created a fairly believable story that combines a bit of political intrigue with geo-caching, a fairly recent international treasure-hunting. While the display of the Ten Commandments and other religious materials has been hotly contested, especially in the South, it is a bit extreme that terrorists would try to take out a State Senator just to stop his vote. But this is the movies, so we can suspend our disbelief for that case.
Tyler Roberds, as treasure-hunter Paul Jump, and Fiawna Forte as his partner Jess Regan, have two of the meatier parts, and both do justice to their roles as college students caught up in a game they don't understand. And like college students who tend to think they're invincible, rather than run from the challenge, they run straight toward it, using Biblical knowledge and geo-caching skills to figure out the mystery.
The film could have been edited more tightly to have a shorter running time and eliminate some repetitive scenes, but overall Trost delivers an engaging and entertaining film.

"Even though Charleton Heston does not convince me that he is a Christian in his narration on these, he does say what is true biblically and so I don't see any problem with showing these to children. The stories are not 100% accurate but pretty close and do a better job than I can narrating from memory. The music is a little lame but you know how children are, they will love it. And if the music helps them to want to keep watching, then that is ok for me. The animation is well done and the stories do touch you and so I am very happy with this whole series." "I loved this movie. After being so dissapointed by so much violence in other so-called Christian movies, this was such a relief. I especially liked how all these characters of varying belief systems came together and grew to understand God's message. The title made it sound like something I wanted to avoid but please don't let that stop you. I recommend this movie highly." "Wonderful movie, very well done. Sad to see the heartache and suffering caused by ignorance and traditions in the medical field but very encouraging to see what one dedicated woman accomplished through her obedience to answer God's call and sacrifice another life of happiness she could have had. Highly recommend it." [ Read more... ]
