Inside this issue... A Guaranteed Investment Hi <<First Name>>, If you have any investments at all, they are probably smaller today than they were last year at this time. Even the best financial minds watched their investments shrink in this economy. Do you pull out of the stock market and invest in gold? Are mutual funds better than certificates of deposit? I was reminded last Sunday that very few investments are guaranteed, and they have really long-range (eternal) returns. One of those is putting time and energy into other people's lives. Ten years ago, three young brothers routinely broke into our church. Addicted to drugs, their mother was unable to feed them on her own. Hungry for food and attention, they were crying out for help. Liz, one of our staff members, took these boys under her wing. She fed them, brought them to church, and gave them clothes and the affection missing from their young lives. Then a Sunday School class got involved. They helped the boys attend summer camps and encouraged their gifts and talents. The oldest brother is a remarkably gifted musician and received a four-year scholarship to university. He was also invited to Nashville to record a demo. Who could have guessed ten years ago that one person's investment in a young child would bring about this type of return? Look around you. Who can you invest in? Whose life will turn out differently because you cared? This is a powerful story of one young man's journey to continue to fight the battle. It is a battle that his father was called upon by God to conduct. When his father and family are murdered by the invading Saxons, Artos continues the quest and looks for the answers in his faith. There are several Christian references in the film, including a comment about following Christ and that he came to earth with a mission and a purpose. A scripture is quoted that God's mercies are new every morning. Prayer is offered up for a battle about to be fought. There are several battle scenes shown one right after another, so the viewers are subjected to many fighting scenes that includes swords, axes and weapons of the Dark Ages. Although the battles rage on and people are murdered, the scenes are not very graphic. There is practically no blood. Many scenes of violence cut away before anything graphic is shown, and in some cases arrows strike but no blood is seen. This movie does encourage faith and we award this film our Dove Seal. Invest in Yourself Now is the time to invest in yourself, your marriage, your gifts and talents. Or invest in your family and friends by giving them one of these great DVDs.

Buyer Review Rating: Faith Lessons on the Life & Ministry of the Messiah - DVD by Ron Perallo "Excellent rental . Which lead us to purchase it for a small group Bible Study. It brought together history, culture, and geography to illuminate the Gospels. The insights we gained transformed our reading of the Gospels and inspired a deeper faith commitment. The interactive 2008 edition of the Discovery Guide was awesome." [Edited for length] [ Read more... ] Buyer Review Rating: End Of The Spear - DVD by Jacqueline Arent
"Saw it in the theater when it came out and was glad for the opportunity to see it again with my husband who hadn't seen it. His comment at the beginning? "How can anyone possibly change these people?" How great our God is! Nothing is impossible for Him. A lot of violence in the beginning but faith building. "Excellent! Captivating! There was actually a departure from the "millions and millions of years ago" comments and instead, "for thousands of years...." was used to describe how the arctic animals lived and survived in the Antarctica. Great family film. Not a dull moment." [ Read more... ]
