Are You Stuck in Traffic?

Hi <<First Name>>,

When was the last time you sat in traffic for more than an hour? More than two hours? Today my friend and I were in traffic for three and a half hours on our way back from the airport. What is normally a three hour car ride took six hours.

As we looked ahead, we saw nothing but miles of cars. The road wasn't clear in any direction except for traffic going back the way we came. We knew we had to go forward, but the wait was almost impossible. Finally things cleared and we saw open road. We knew we were going to make it.

It made me think about the times I'm sitting in God's waiting room, unsure of what's ahead, unable to see anything beyond the congestion. Will it ever clear up? Will I ever see an open road again? And just when it seems impossible and my patience is gone, He clears the way.

Where are you stuck? Do you know what's holding you up? Can you see the open road ahead, or just obstacles in front of you?

Hold on. It will get better. The road will open up. If you're fortunate like I was today, you have a good traveling partner. But even if you don't, God is working on your behalf to get you through.

From the screening room,

Industry Interview
Producer Stephen McEveety From "The Passion" to "The Stoning"
by Angela Walker

Stephen McEveety has a long and rich career in Hollywood, beginning with an appearance in one episode of the original Star Trek TV series. From those early beginnings, he built a career that included a long stint with Icon Entertainment, which produced several Mel Gibson films, including the blockbusters Braveheart and The Passion of the Christ.

Steve's latest film, The Stoning of Soraya M., is the story of a woman in the Middle East who suffers psychological abuse at the hands of her husband and eventually falls victim to a deadly conspiracy. The powerful tale of her persecution is both a daring act of filmmaking and a compelling parable about mob rule. The Stoning of Soraya M. opens in theaters June 26, 2009.

The Stoning of Soraya M. has been compared to The Passion of the Christ in terms of its impact on audiences. How did you come across the property?

Steve:        It's a funny thing. I had hired Cyrus Nowrasteh, the director, to write a screenplay for me about Cuba and political prisoners. The writers' strike happened and he had to stop writing. My partner John Shepherd had read his script for The Stoning of Soraya M. and had been bugging me to read it for three months, but I never got around to it. So...

Finding Strong Fathers in Film

by Dr. Marc T. Newman, Ph.D.

Once you get past the first four of the Ten Commandments that deal with humans’ relationship to God, the first "horizontal" commandment is that people honor their fathers and mothers (Exodus 20:12). Last month we honored mothers. If you went to church, you may have seen moms getting flowers, perhaps being asked to stand, even receiving applause. The sermon likely extolled the virtues of motherhood with a special emphasis on appreciating the women who raised us.

Thomas Haden Church on "Imagine That"

by Angela Walker and Leo Etcharte-Tine

Actor Thomas Haden Church portrays Evan Danielson's archrival Johnny Whitefeather in Imagine That, a comedy about the power of a daughter's security blanket to help her father climb the corporate ladder. Haden Church's signature voice and sense of humar add considerable dimension to his role of the not-quite-who-he-seems Whitefeather.

Come What May - DVD

by christie smith

"this was really a wonderful story! it really explores the issue of abortion, and the family dynamics when there are two differing viewpoints in the home. like many christian films though, the acting was not quite so great, but there were some notable performances. the main actor was pretty good, and the actor who portrayed his father was even better."
