Prosperous 2010:
Teta Architecture wishes everyone a happy and thriving New Year. As our accountant has said, 2010 looks to be the "sunshine after the rain."
Special Thanks:
Here at Teta Architecture, we'd like to give a special thanks to everyone that has helped contribute to our growth and success. We've been fortunate to have amazing clients with vision and determination. Our design teams, including consultants, contractors and vendors, have brought valued expertise to each and every project. Our business team, including our accountant, legal and insurance consultants, have provided the necessary insight to lay the framework for success. Finally, we thank all of our family, friends and colleagues for being there with thoughtful advice and support.
La Jolla Redux:
Although 2009 presented its challenges, Teta Architecture was able to maintain a healthy workload. In the fall, we were awarded a "blast from the past" project in La Jolla. Back in 1968, Amato designed a custom house for the Wells family. It was the first project on his own as Amato Teta, Architect. It has been the fortune of Teta Architecture for this project to come back for a wholehouse redux. The new clients, Jay and Christine, have been wonderful and the project has been teamed with Oakhurst Builders. Partial demolition has begun and we are very much looking forward to another successful venture.
Giving Back:
At Teta Architecture, we believe that helping others is the only way to prosper. From pro-bono work for the Buena Vista Audubon Society, to donations to various charities, to coaching soccer to the local children, Teta Architecture has sought to give back to its community throughout the year. Ending out the year, our charity was Habitat for Humanity. This long standing non-profit seeks to "eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action."
Weatherization:
Weatherization (or weatherproofing): the practice of protecting a building and its interior from the elements, particularly from sunlight, precipitation, and wind, and of modifying a building to reduce energy consumption and optimize energy efficiency.
eco Advice: Many ways help weatherize a building: added insulation, replacing outdated heating and cooling appliances and sealing drafty doors and windows.
