Hello Heartside! Authentic Mexican Food RIGHT Downtown
Pikositos comes from the Spanish word “picoso” which means hot, spicy regarding the flavor, aroma, and quality of spices. Pikositos serves a variety of tacos and salsas with the authenticity of Mexican food. Owned by Norma Jaxwinskiand staffed by five people. The restaurant has been up and running since June 3rd new to the Heartside Business district, they are creating quite a reputation for spicy food, worth coming back.
Their menu consists of tacos, quesadillas, burritos, as well as her Mexican soup served in combos. Items which she chooses to use are fresh, loss cost, economical, convenient, authentic, and tasty. All items from the menu are cooked the day of, to ensure fresh quality food. They also considered health issues they might face so they offer items with or without meat to and fresh items to keep the healthy theme going.
I really wanted to sit down with Norma, the owner of Pikositos and ask what the scoop was on her success as Mexican restaurant centered right downtown. I decided to ask her myself, about conducting an interview. Read about the rest of our conversation here!

We are proud to intorduce two fantastic summer interns, Vanessa and Kaleena. Here are a few facts about each of these talented young women.
Kaleena Kowalkowski Originally from Manistee Michigan, I have lived in Grand Rapids for the past five years. Currently a graduate student working towards my M.P.A., nonprofit management and leadership at Grand Valley State University. I am interested in neighborhood revitalization as it relates to economic development and creating viable places for residents to enjoy. I've lived across the State and I am drawn to this concept of creating the "neighborhood feeling" in a big city atmosphere. Grand Rapids has quickly become home and I enjoy playing an active role in activities that impact and benefit other residents.
Vanessa Servin I’m a soon to be sophomore at Michigan State University. Where I’m studying Marketing with a specialization in international business and possibly a minor in art and design. I can be a very shy person at times and other times I can be very outgoing. I really like traveling, drawing, and writing poetry. My favorite sport is bowling but I also enjoy soccer and football. And my favorite food is anything pertaining to Mexican food as long as it’s authentic.(Check out Vanessa’s great story about Pickositos!)
