The Sorbus aria (Whitebeam) is a fantastic choice anywhere an attractive and impressive tree is needed.
Whitebeam are a very popular choice for urban gardens where trees that require little maintenance are needed. This small, compact and rounded tree produces silvery-white young leaves from purple shoots in the spring, before turning to a grey-green in the summer. Whitebeam also produces white flowers during April and May and in good years this is followed by clusters of orange-red cherry-like fruits in the autumn.
The Whitebeam matures to a height of 7-10 metres, so is a perfect fit for tighter spots.
