Sneak Peek! Free Lesson from Rhetoric, Logic, & Argumentation

Click here to download your free lesson or view our complete list of past free lessons.

Coming soon, Rhetoric, Logic, & Argumentation prepares students to be better consumers and producers of persuasive messages. It begins by explaining the three classical approaches to rhetorical persuasion — ethos, pathos, and logos — and goes on to identify the basics of logic: deductive vs. inductive reasoning and a few of the most common logical fallacies.

This lesson, “Rhetorical Appeals,” defines the concept of rhetoric in terms of the speaker, audience, and message and how each relates to the concepts of ethos, pathos, and logos. The lesson culminates in an activity in which students are asked to identify each concept.
