Nature matters now, more than ever. Time spent in nature keeps our children and families healthier and affords us sanctuary in the midst of hectic lives. Connecting with nature allows us to create more sustainable, livable communities. But nature dearly needs advocates like you.
Friends of Ryerson Woods (FRW) strives to deepen our visitors’ connections to nature through a rich array of public programs thoughtfully designed for an economically and socially diverse region.
education Attending a lecture by a renowned evolutionary biologist, bird watching with a leading ornithologist or participating in a composting workshop are some of the ways FRW connects you to nature.
art Whether through a butterfly exhibition, inspiring discussions of nature literature or a film series on a pressing environmental topic like Locally Grown, FRW knows that our art offerings jumpstart critical conservation conversations.
outreach FRW holds that quality nature experiences should be available to all people and making that happen requires cultivation and collaboration. FRW’s outreach to some traditionally underserved residents of our region includes field trips, community festivals and the creation of dual-language educational materials. Natural harbors like Ryerson Woods only thrive if people share the connection.
