Compelling Case for Returnpath Certification
SpamAssassin Score with ReturnPath certificationWhenever high-volume senders contact us about switching to MailChimp, they often ask whether or not it's worth it to get ReturnPath Certification. The long answer is, "It depends on your situation. We can provide the dedicated IP address and the infrastucture so that you meet RP's technical criteria, but the rest is up to you and ReturnPath."  But here's the short answer.

Let's Take This Online
pricing-danceWe sent an email notification to a small segment of our customers, and we thought it was good news that they might want to (social)share with friends.

But we tried it without all the fancy Facebook and Twitter "social sharing" icons. Just an old fashioned text link.
The results were pretty surprising.

Wufoo, Plushies, Facebook, and MailChimp
plushyWufoo recently announced a new, super easy way to connect their web forms with MailChimp. For those of you who don't know, Wufoo is a tool that makes it extremely easy & fast to build an online form, and collect data. Maybe for a survey, or for an RSVP. Whatever. Formstack is another service, and it also integrates with MailChimp.

Anyway, yeah -- I know exactly what you're thinking: "When the heck would I ever use that, and why the fudge would I integrate it with MailChimp?"

Loyalty Before Frequency
Bonobos does it rightHow many times has this happened to you? You buy something from your favorite store, and you sign up for their monthly newsletter.

Everything's cool for a while, then one day you notice they're sending you emails every single day, and you're wondering, "Why the flubber did I sign up for this junk?"

You just can't up your frequency like that without the right approach. Here's an example of how Bonobos upped their frequency the right way.

3 Flowtown Case Studies
Have you ever wondered how many of your subscribers are on social networks? Me neither. But have you ever wondered what your subscribers look like, what their interests are, and whether or not they like classic Porsches? Now we're talking. Flowtown recently integrated with MailChimp, and I took it for a test drive:

Using Flowtown to be more Social

Here's a quick way to use Flowtown to segment on data you don't have...

...and you should check out this review of Flowtown from 6s Marketing, too:
"By targeting specific users with relevant content to one of the social networks we knew our readers were on, we obtained our highest ever open rate (67.1%) and click rate (31.5%). Both of which, were well over the industry averages (17.9% and 4.1% respectively)."

Why You Don't Send Emails from the Cloud
Reddit had an outage. That's not the interesting part. In their explanation of what happened, they uncovered an email deliverability issue that we've discussed before (in this IT Deliverability Guide). If you're interested in why "the cloud" is kinda blacklisted, Laura Atkins (as always) has an explanation here.

You actually read this far?
Time for a mental break. We got this life-sized Freddie mascot suit made, and had a little fun "introducing" him to the MailChimp office:

If you're interested, here's how the mascot was made.

- The MailChimp Team (eep eep!)

In case you haven't heard, MailChimp has a shiny new native iPhone app.  But wait, there's more. If you're an iPhone app developer, we've got a handy API wrapper that you can use to easily integrate your cool app with MailChimp, so you can keep your customers updated (along with a free 6 months if you join our developers program).

Android developer? Droooooyyyd. I just like saying that. Anyway, there's an API wrapper for developers, too. If you're just an Android user, and not a developer, we unfortunately do not have an app for you yet. This is the link where you go to yell at us for only having a native iPhone app.

ThinkVitamin Email Redesign
When the folks at Carsonified decided to use MailChimp for their ThinkVitamin newsletter, we were thrilled. When we saw that they were using our stock templates -- not so thrilled. So we asked Jason Beaird, (btw, Jason just joined the MailChimp team) to give their design a little hand-coded love. Here's his blog post, complete with very handy email coding tips...

Not-So-White Papers
You know what's so fun about reading corporate whitepapers? Aaaabsolutely nothing.

So we've completely redesigned and re-written just about every single free PDF guide we've ever written, and we're in the midst of completely rebuilding our library:
New MailChimp Guides

I asked our DesignLab to come up with book covers so good, someone would write a book someday about our book covers. Like this.

Anyway, I love them. My all-time favorite is the "Avoiding Spam Filters" one.

Oh, the content inside all of those guides? Also great. Thank Kate, from our marketing team, for that:

Kate
She joined us in January to help us write all those guides. She hasn't stopped typing since.
