Have A Green Thanksgiving
Reduce: The amount of waste you produce by purchasing only what you need and in packaging that can be recycled.
Reuse: Bring your reusable bags to the store when shopping and use cloth napkins for dinner.
Recycle: Paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum packaging. With all of the fresh veggie waste this would be a good time to start your very own compost or vermi-compost bin!
Try one of these all natural centerpieces for your dinner table this year: (Don't compost pumpkins, the seeds will survive the winter!) Support Our Troops
A friend of mine from grade school is now on his second tour in Iraq. Before being called back for his second tour he was one of Chicago's finest. I am planning on sending a care package his way from Kohler Care this month. It would be really nice if the kids could help me fill his care package with one or two items for him and his buddies. I found a ton of great ideas here. In the mean time I have also emailed him for any specific needs he can think of, but his Internet access is limited. If you could send your child with anything you wish to send by Friday November 6Th, we can get it shipped off to Iraq. (Hopefully before the holiday!)
The link above includes some of these items:
Deodorant Razors Non-perishables (sunflower seeds, dried pasta, ramen noodles, M&M's, hot cocoa, granola/protein bars, spices, coffee, etc.) Ziploc bags Tooth brushes & paste Baby wipes Pen & Paper Newspaper
