Executive CornerIs 4 Years Young! Four years ago this spring, Chix in Business launched as a not-for-profit, fees-based organization. This came after 7 years existing of like-minded women business owners. Our launch in April 2006 reflected our grass-roots. We hosted our inaugural event at a very simple facility, all our catering was contributed gratis by wonderful local chefs; there was an embarrassing abundance of donated gift bags distributed in the fund-raising raffle and the energy of all the Chix in the room was at a fantastic high. This launch, later to be coined the 'Anniversary Party', signified the commitment and dedication that a small group of women, the founding board members of Chix in Business, had put into getting our passionate group off the ground. I am proud to say I was a member of that original board and as the current President of Chix, I am excited each spring when the Anniversary Party rolls around, to launch yet another year of high energy and dedication with all the current members of Chix in Business. I share this story to encourage all of my fellow Chix to participate on April 22nd in the 4th Annual Chix in Business Anniversary Party at Mez in Briar Creek and share in the fellowship, fun and support. There are many opportunities to be a part of the fun--volunteer to help out at the registration desk, provide a raffle item to help raise funds for the Women's Center and of course, bring a friend to learn more about our very special organization. I look forward to seeing you there! - Susan Maravetz, President Chix in Business, Inc.
