Company: I currently work for Hot Press, the bi-weekly magazine with an audited circulation of 19,387 and has been going for over 33 years. We also publish the Hot Press Yearbook which is known as the bible of the entertainment industry and Enterprise Magazine, the onboard magazine for the Belfast-Dublin Enterprise train and we also host the Music Show in the RDS every October.

Creative and technology companies based in Ireland were at the centre of job creation announcements over the last week. The twice Oscar-nominated animation studio Brown Bag Films has said it will create 14 jobs on foot of a new Disney contract to produce a new animated series for preschoolers. Brown Bag Films will produce the series in association with Disney Channel. Beginning in 2011, "Doc McStuffins" will premiere on the soon to be branded Disney Junior blocks on Disney Channel, and Disney Junior channels around the world. Brown Bag Films currently employs 50 people in Dublin. Linking up with LinkedIn LinkedIn, the social network used by millions of professionals worldwide, has also announced that it is to begin recruiting 35 finance professionals at its international headquarters in Dublin. The key message delivered by business, industry and academic leaders who took part in InterTradeIreland’s 2010 All-island Innovation Conference was that building collaborative networks is essential to develop Ireland as an innovation island. At the opening of the conference Dr Pat Frain, Director, NovaUCD said, “The development and expansion of innovation networks have a major role to play in economic renewal on the island of Ireland and in particular in developing Ireland’s emergence as an innovation island.” Read more...
Study eyeballs Facebook
A new Facebook eye-tracking study will give companies that wish to make an impact on Facebook food for thought. Mulley Communications worked with the Centre for Research and Innovation in Learning and Teaching at National College of Ireland (NCI) on an eye-tracking test to see what Irish people pay attention to when using Facebook. Using usability technology in NCI’s National e-Learning Laboratory researchers watched the eye movements of participants as they looked at their Facebook Newswalls, Profiles and Business Pages.
