Nativity play costs soaring!

The BBC are reporting that some parents are spending as much as £150 on nativity play outfits for their children.  Debenhams spokesman Ed Watson said: "The amount of money that some parents want to spend on their child's nativity play appearance would enable the baby Jesus to leave the stable and check into a five star hotel."

It does somewhat miss the point of the story!  Suffice to say, I haven't spent that on Imogen's angel costume.

Great photos vital for on-line dating success!

Internet dating advisors suggest that a professional dating photo can make the difference between  standing out and being one of the crowd. Its your once only time to make a good first impression so best not to leave it to chance.

I've been asked to take portraits of lads and lasses to use for on-line dating and social networking purposes.  Clients have reported great increases in interest once they have posted up their new 'beautiful natural' portrait!

 Happy Christmas!
I love Christmas and can't wait to celebrate with my girls now they are both just old enough to appreciate the festivities - and more importantly the meaning behind them.  Imogen is going to be an angel in her nursery Nativity play this year and has been avidly practising Jesus' lullaby.  Meanwhile, Bronwyn is itching to help decorate the Christmas tree - oh dear!

I've been photographing families the last couple of weeks - an excited rush to get pictures printed and framed for their relatives' gifts.  I know I'm biased, but I truly think photographs are the perfect personal present to give.  A good framed portrait of loved ones is always treasured.  I do still have a little weekday availability left if you would like a photography session.  In the next section I've put together the range of offers you still have time to take advantage of.  I can hand deliver vouchers in Woking up to the 22nd December.  Do please act fast though as I'm almost fully booked and need to leave myself a little time to make some mince pies!

We came across some helpful tips from the National Trust's photographic materials adviser that we thought would be useful for our customers:
  • Try to avoid touching the front of photographs because the natural oils in your fingertips can leave permanent marks. Hold a photograph by its edges instead.
  • Have copies of your most precious photographs made for display and store the originals in a cool, dark place or in an acid-free box.
  • Avoid placing photographs in direct light, near heat sources or potentially dusty areas such as working fireplaces.
  • Use glazed frames to display prints rather than keeping them out loose.
  • Avoid using 'magnetic' albums with sticky pages intended to hold prints in place. The adhesives are a source of pollutants that will cause damage. Choose good quality albums with acid-free paper pages.
  • To attach photographs, use photo-corners that are adhered only to the album page rather than those which are attached diretly to the photographs.
  • Remember to label photographs on their enclosures or on album pages so that future generations are able to identify and enjoy them!

  • I can also provide ultra-modern acrylic displays, portfolio albums and fabulous 'coffee table' books.

I always use top grade photographic products, which are only available to photographers and are superior quality to that available on the high street.
