Laura Calder returns to the Asian Food Channel with another tempting season of French Food at Home. Sharing how easy it is to whip up a French meal, she shows how you too can create a whole new experience of food pleasures. And the best thing about it? You don’t have to leave your kitchen and make your way to a chilly France.

1.    James Beard Award-winning chef, Michael Smith, is also the official food ambassador for his home province, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

2.    As much as Chef Michael Smith loves being a chef and travelling the world, his favourite role by far is being a father to his son, Gabriel.

3.    When he’s not busy being on television, Chef Michael is an extreme windsurfer and map collector.

4.    Chef Michael is heading the team of chefs at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

5.    Chef Michael’s one guilty pleasure is French fries.

6.    Chef Michael advises home cooks to keep it simple and use local and fresh ingredients to guarantee a difference in the taste of the meals.

7.    When his son Gabriel was born, his cooking techniques evolved from international fine dining to focusing more on healthy and nutritious home cooking.

8.    "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." is Chef Michael’s favourite quote from author Michael Pollan.

9.    His most memorable food experience was going apple picking at Prince Edward Island’s local apple orchard and bringing home 15 to 20 different varieties of apples to make applesauce for winter.

10.    Chef Michael Smith is a stunning 6 feet 8 inches (2.07m) tall!
