An exhibition works by Linda Cross, in honor of the Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial. "Albrecht Dürer: Impressions of the Renaissance" The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center Through 12/24
Features 41 works celebrating the world of Albrecht Dürer, one of the greatest artists of the Northern Renaissance. All except one of the prints will be drawn from the permanent collection of the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, renowned for its Old Master print collection. Included in the exhibition are 19 prints by Dürer, which feature several beautifully inked, fresh impressions by the artist from the Art Center's Felix M. Warburg Collection of Old Master prints, given to the college in the early 1940s. "Poetry of the Hudson" The Vassar College Libraries Through 12/24
Poetry of the Hudson, an exhibition of verse inspired by the Hudson River, includes local Native American writings, Washington Irving's story "Rip Van Winkle," as well as works by contemporary writers who currently live in the Hudson Valley. Exhibition: "The Emblem Show" G.A.S. Gallery Poughkeepsie "The Emblem Show" presents 36" circular emblems, created by 50 Dutchess and Ulster County artists, that each represent the artist’s respective hamlet, village, town, or city. These ceremonial town emblems were carried in the Walkway Over the Hudson opening day ceremonies on Oct 3, 2009. General Announcements Community Works Campaign Support Community Works, the philanthropic campaign whose mission is to provide financial assistance to local not-for-profit organizations. Funded by donations from employees and students of Vassar College, Community Works has funded 40 different institutions in the Hudson Valley since its inception in 2001. Recipients are selected each year by a committee of staff, administrators, faculty, and students. This year the ten recipients are: Battered Women's Services, Celebrating Community (John Flowers), Children's Media Project, Circles of Planned Parenthood, Dutchess County Arts Council, Dutchess Outreach, The Living Room, Queen's Galley, Real Skills Network, Inc., and Rural and Migrant Ministry. Once again, any donation above $25 automatically enters you into a raffle to win the campus parking spot of your choice for the 2010 calendar year.
