Lecture by Sonja Arntzen Ely Hall, Aula 10:00am "Shared Sensibility: Bai Juyi and the Practice of Chinese Poetry in Japan." Join Sonja Arntzen from the University of Toronto for a presentation focusing on the personal meaning that writing Chinese poetry. Lecture by Richard Lynn Ely Hall AULA 1:30pm "Straddling the Tradition-Modernity Divide: Huang Zunxian (1848-1905) and His 'Riben zashishi' (Poems on Miscellaneous Subjects from Japan)." An exhibition of reproduction inaugural gowns of First Ladies, from Martha Washington to Roslyn Carter. The gowns were researched at the Smithsonian Institute, then designed and fabricated by Philadelphia dressmaker Dina Arzt in 1975 for the 1976 US Bicentennial.
