Additional information is below. Thursday, January 28 Lecture by Erik F. Nielsen Taylor Hall, Room 203 4:30pm "Outlook for the World in 2010: Exciting, with Risks!" Erik Fossing Nielsen P'12 is Goldman Sachs' Chief European Economist and Managing Director responsible for the firm's economic research teams for Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1996 as a senior economist for Russia. He transferred to London in 1997, to build the economic research team for the New Markets in the European time-zone, and in 2005, took over responsibilities for Western Europe as well. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Nielsen worked in Washington, DC, for 10 years, first as an economist at the IMF's European Department and later for the World Bank as a senior economist for Russia and in other roles. Before leaving his native Denmark, he worked as an economist at the central bank and taught at the Copenhagen School of Economics and Business Administration. GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT The Vassar Haiti Project's Emergency Relief Initiatives for Earthquake Victims The Vassar Haiti Project's emergency relief initiatives for earthquake victims includes the collection of emergency relief supplies (medical supplies, clothing, hygiene items) with boxes placed in dorms and other campus buildings; tabling by the VHP in the College Center through the end of the month; and monetary donations to help defray shipping costs and to go to immediate needs of VHP's artists and gallery owners who live in and around Port-au-Prince. On Sunday, January 31, there is an art show and sale in Westchester at the Solomon Schechter School (Hartsdale, NY), presented by VHP.
