GSCA Center Renovations New Office Space, Work Parties, and More!
Our Building Committee has been hard at work pulling together the resources needed to get our office and program space finished in the arts center. We are very excited to open up this new space as it will allow us to occupy the building all year long, something we have been dreaming of for quite some time! We are working hard to organize work parties and gather the materials needed for our office. Thanks to a very generous donation from Davies Office Refurbishing, Inc. we will have most of the office furniture we need to have a functioning space for Grand Street Community Arts staff and volunteers, as well as a place for meetings and small art classes. We will be hosting several work parties in the next few weekends, so jump on board and help us get the arts center in tip top shape for the upcoming Summer season!
Upcoming Work Parties April 17, 10:00 AM: Insulation April 24, 10:00 AM: Sheetrock May 1, 10:00 AM: Taping May 8, 10:00 AM: Finishing touches
Walk-ins are always welcome, but we really need to count on enough people to get this work done. Please RSVP Tom, (tom@grandarts.org), Missy (missy@grandarts.org) or Anthony (acmefloors@verizon.net).

After-School Art Club - Excerpt from Melissa Marceau After-School Art Club is as magnificent as ever. All the children seem to migrate outside to be enveloped in Spring after a class of painting a portrait of a posing elaborately dressed model, creating a 3-D sculpture from shredded paper, or drawing a paper-patch like quilt of a family tree like Frida Kahlo. We read about famous women and artists this past March and proceeded to paint as if we were her. We walked a mile in her shoes. I'm fortunate to witness to these vibrant artists. The June art show will be amazing - do not miss. Many generous folks have donated arts and crafts supplies/recyclables from the recent Times Union article and I'm very appreciative. Any good ideas/book/sites, please pass on to me! As always we can use donations of glue, water colors, chalk and markers. Thanks for your support!! - Melissa Marceau, missy@grandarts.org.
