Safety, Health & Environmental Forum (Scotland)
Managing Occupational Road Risk
17th February - Strathclyde Fire & Rescue, Hamilton.

SHEF(S) are very pleased to have Roger Bibbings, RoSPA's Occupational Safety Adviser. RoSPA has long campaigned for organisations to adopt a proactive risk management approach to reducing the risks connected with 'at work' vehicle use, tackling this issue within the framework which they will already have in place for managing health and safety at work.  Roger continues to be involved in helping to establish a national strategy on MORR, including the development of the recent HSE/DFT guidance 'Driving at Work - managing work-related road safety', for employers on their duties to manage risk on the road under the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.

Following on from Rogers presentation, Dr Karen McDonnell, Head of RoSPA Scotland, will also be joining us to discuss the benefits of being a member of ScORSA. The Scottish Occupational Road Safety Alliance (ScORSA) was created to raise awareness of the management of occupational road risk (MORR) and to promote occupational road safety to companies within Scotland. This unique initiative is an online website which provides an information hub for businesses and signposts companies to information, resources and free practical support to promote MORR within their organisation. As businesses and drivers become more aware of their responsibilities, this will have a tremendous impact in reducing road casualty figures in Scotland.
