President's Message

I have truly enjoyed serving ABWA Jessamine as President for the past year.  It was not necessarily something I aspired to but rather an honor given to me by the membership.  My fondest recollections are that my service has generated friendships, cooperation, goal setting, fundraising, and really great meetings that have inspired all of us.  As our membership grows, we all have the continuing opportunity to expand our horizons and gain insight into the world of Women as Entrepeneurs.   My term is drawing to a close.  So, I ask that you assist us in moving forward by being present at the June meeting to elect our incoming officers.

A Message from Your Board

Dear Members,

We have been contacted several times by the West Ashley Marshlands ABWA chapter. They are close to relinquishing their chapter and have asked if we would consider joining forces. We have brought this to the attention of the members at our May meeting and after some open-forum discussion, our members that were present seemed to be in favor of consideration of a venue change. In addition, based on feedback received by many members and guests, one barrier to membership is location. There are many potential members that have expressed interest in joining our group but the drive from certain locations (Mt. Pleasant, James Island, Downtown, etc.) negates any membership action. In addition, we have also received inquiries from downtown venues who have offered to host our group for events or networking happy hours.

We desire feedback from the total membership regarding a location change to a more central area - either North Charleston or downtown. Please share your input with your board members: Shauna Heathman , Kathy Berman, Sandy Irving or Rebecca Gooden. We appreciate your time to provide this feedback as it helps the leadership of ABWA to make positive changes to increase and retain membership.

Sincerely,
Your Board
