What is the Asgard in Asgard Development?
Many people ask me why I named my company Asgard Development. Asgard is the home of the Aesir - Odin, Thor, Baldr, Tyr - in Norse mythology. I am a bit of a mythology nut and many of my projects are themed around Norse, Celtic, Egyptian or some other mythological ideology. Hence, Asgard Development.
Mimir's Well, my blog, is also named after a Norse myth. Mimir was the god of wisdom who guarded the well of knowledge. Odin had to sacrifice an eye to Mimir in order to gain access to his knowledge. That is where the tagline "What would you sacrifice for knowledge?" comes from. I am trying to use Mimir's Well to build a database of client tips and developer tricks. Painesville Party In The Park
 The Painesville Party In The Park website went live last week. PPITP is a music festival organized by the Painesville Community Improvement Corporation. The party is the "largest free music festival" in Ohio and takes place July 16, 17 and 18. I highly recommend attending this event. The music schedule includes several genres. Google Abandons IE6
Internet Explorer 6 has been a thorn in the side of designers and developers from day one. Fewer and fewer of us are still developing for the browser in our base packages. Now, the major corporations are starting to follow the developer's lead. Google has just announced that it will be ceasing IE6 testing within Google applications, such as Docs and Sites. With such a large force dropping IE6, will this be the final blow to cause the end of this version? Read more on SitePoint.
