November 2009 • VOLUME 2 ISSUE 4 Articulation is: the act of giving utterance or expression; the act or manner of articulating sounds; an articulated utterance or sound Join Philadelphia’s First on Facebook! by Ilene Hass
Philadelphia's First has joined and legions of nonprofit organizations worldwide who recognize the benefits of a Facebook page as a means of promoting, growing and strengthening their organization.
Yes, were on Facebook! Facebook is both a fun place to hang out and an effective Social Media Marketing tool for an organization such as Philadelphia's First. At last glance Facebook had 300 million individual users worldwide, among whom are several members of Club 541. WAY TO GO CLUB!
Our Club's Facebook Fan page can help Philadelphia's First reach out to and connect with potential new members and encourage current members to network, share information, and be helpful to each other outside of our formal meeting structure. Here’s how:
1-- Facebook pages are indexed by search engines: This means that the content placed on a facebook page helps our club show up search engines. And that helps interested people find us!
2-- People with Facebook accounts can become “Fans” of our club's Page on Facebook: People become fans of an organization's page to show that they value and appreciate, and want to be aware of what's going on with the organization. Keep in mind that on Facebook, people have friends and Pages (of organizations such as Philadelphia's First) have fans.
3-- Updates to our club Page show up in the streams of our Fans: This is considered push marketing and is a way for Philadelphia's First to make it easy for our club's fans to see what's happening with us! So, when our page Administrator posts a new update on our page, that update appears on all our Fan's individual news feed pages.
4-- Our Fans can also add content to our Page: A fan that starts to write in the "write something" box can add links, photos and videos to our Philadelphia's First club page. And guess what?!? If a fan (let's call him Herb) does this, it becomes viral marketing...Herb's Facebook friends get to see what Herb has added to the Philadelphia's First page, when they visit their own facebook wall. Since they are now aware of Herb's connection with Philadelphia's First they may be encouraged to check out our club page or ask Herb about our organization.
Ready to become a fan of Philadelphia's First on Facebook? Here's how... 1-- Set up a free account on Facebook: Anyone can join. Did you know: women older than age 55 are the fastest growing age group on facebook?
2--Using the seach box in the upper right hand corner of your page...type in Philadelphia's First Toastmasters. Our club page will show up by name in the search results. Click on the name of our club to be taken to our page.
3-- Once you've arrived at our page, click the box in the center column next to our name that says: Become a Fan. That's it...start posting to our wall! If you’re concerned about privacy, be aware, that unlike becoming a “friend” with someone on Facebook, becoming a Fan of an organization does not give the organization access to your personal Facebook profile.
