PDX Doodle Meet up - WeLoveDoodles.com

Welcome to our first Portland Doodle Meet-up schedule! Thank you for joining the mailing list and I hope to meet you at the park! I just know it's going to be a blast to get all our beautiful Doodles together to romp and play. Socialization is so important for dogs and this will also give us all an opportunity to get out and take advantage of the beautiful NW outdoors while the weather is still decent and before the rain comes on full force. This is going to be a weekly meet-up group rain or shine and I will be sending out invitations to members some time during the week before. Usually I won't be sending out invitations this late in the week but I wanted to give everyone a chance to join the mailing list. If you decide you want to join us. Great! If not then no worries, we just hope to see you another time. No pressure. No RSVP. Just Show up if you can!

Our first Portland Doodle Meet-up will be held at:

The Normandale Park

NE 57th Ave & Halsey St

Portland, OR

When: Sunday October 11th at 1pm-3pm

My name is Barbara Dearaujo and I'm the group Moderator. I'll be waiting with my two fluffy doodle pups, Toby and Teddy. A Goldendoodle and an Aussiedoodle. Plus I have red hair so I doubt I'll be hard to spot. Both my doodle pups are under 5 months old but you wouldn't know it to look at Toby he's already as big as most adult dogs.

I'd love to hear suggestions from fellow members on which parks you'd like to meet-up at in the following weeks. I've been doing a lot of research on local dog parks and we really have so many to choose from here in Portland and Vancouver.. maybe too many because I had a heck of a time picking one for our first meet-up. I'd love to hear which parks you think would be fun or that you've already been too and that you liked or didn't like. Contact me. Or leave a comment on the website at WeLoveDoodles.com

If you decide you'd like to unsubscribe from the mailing list, there's a link at the bottom of all the invitation emails. (link below).

Park Tips:

  • Bring a water dish and plenty of water
  • Bring your leash, collar and tags

Gabriel Park: This is a nice neighborhood park in Portland that has over 90 acres. There are restrooms, skate parks and sports fields. There are trails but also an off-leash dog area. - Read Park Reviews on Yelp.com

The Ross Complex: SE Ross St & SE 18th St, Vancouver, WA - Read Park Reviews on Yelp.com

Sellwood Riverfront Park: SE Spokane St. & Oaks Pkwy. Portland, OR - Read Park Reviews on Yelp.com

If you have a park preference for next week, please let me know. I'd love to hear your suggestions and it will also be something we can all discuss at the first meet-up.

 WeLoveDooldes.com PDX Doodle Meet-up Rules

(these should be unspoken rules but you just never know)

  1. All dogs must have a current vaccinations. All dogs over the age of six months shall have a current rabies vaccination.
  2. Handlers must clean up after their dogs. Pick up poop--always, everywhere!
  3. Dogs must be on leash when entering and exiting the off-leash dog area.
  4. Dogs must be under control and in view of their handler at all times.
  5. Aggressive dogs are not allowed. The handler of any dog exhibiting aggressive or unruly behavior is required to immediately remove the offending dog from the park.
  6. Handlers are responsible for any injuries caused by the dog(s) under their control.
  7. DO NOT Tease, tantalize or provoke any animal with the intent to cause fear, anger or cause injury to the animal.
  8. DO NOT SHARE WATER BOWLS - dangerous doggy germs can be spread this way
  9. DO NOT bring your dog if he's sick, feeling under the weather or not acting himself. We want to make sure to protect our dogs and our friends dogs  from the possibility of a sickness spreading.
  10. Ask before we pet.  Not only is this polite but it's smart to ask before petting someone else's dog. Always respect the owner and the dog by introducing yourself and asking permission before reaching out to pet a new dog. Let the dog sniff your hand, palm up first and then let him come to you for more affection.

That being said.. We're all doing this to make new friends, socialize our dogs and have fun with our pets. So make sure to come with an open mind, a kind heart and plan on having fun!!
