The WeLoveDoodles group.. had some really fun get togethers last year. We all got to meet each other and our dogs and it was a lot of fun. Just watching all our dogs playing together, it was a blast…people tend to notice when there are 6 doodles running around the park together. They loved the attention and so did we! Good Times!
Then the rain came… and no one wanted to come out anymore (me included). It was rainy and muddy and our dogs would be in desperate need of a bath after only 20 minutes at the park. So, needless to say The WeloveDoodles group dwindled away before it really got started.
This summer.. I don’t personally plan on going to any playdates and that’s more or less because my Standard Poodle Daisy is pregnant and I just can’t risk bringing any of my dogs out to the dog parks, because of the risk of them picking something up that would put her health or the puppies health in danger.
My plan is.. to leave the welovedoodles website up because people seem to enjoy it, and people can still sign up for the mailing list. I'll still send out emails now and then with updates on how things are going. I will continue to write blog posts on the subject of Doodles and Dog care and training.
Are Dog parks safe… this has been a contriversal subject, one that I’ve discuessed with several people including my vets, groomers and fellow dog owners and everyone has their own opinion. One Vet told me absolutly NOT. Do not take your dogs to a dog park. While another vet told me as long as my dogs were up to date on their vaccinations then they should be relativly safe at a dog park and my personal experiance is that none of my dogs or my friends dogs have gotten sick after playing at a dog park but.. I’m just not willing to take that risk now that I’ve started my breeding program and my Daisy is pregnant.
I highly recommend Ross Park… as a safe and fun place to take your dogs to play. Even if it’s a little out of the way for some people to drive.. it’s well worth it. I’ve been to several other parks in Vancouver/Portland area and so far that’s been my favorite place to go, hands down.
Play-dates are held at Ross Park in Vancouver every Sunday from 1pm to 3pm!
