There WILL BE school on Election Day!
The town will NOT require our building as a polling place for Election Day, Tues., 11/3.  Therefore, we WILL have school.  We will bank this day for a snow day.

H1N1 Vaccine
The Board of Health is planning clinics in all RI schools over the next months for all students to receive the H1N1 vaccine on a voluntary basis.  An H1N1 Team will vaccinate students.  AICA is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, December 1st.  In the meantime, we need to collect signed consent forms for those who would like to get the shot.  Information packets were mailed to homes by the Bd of Health.  If you did not receive it, you may go to their website www.health.ri.gov/flu/about/schoolh1n1clinics/ and download the permission slip and all other information pertaining to this campaign including frequently asked questions.  Permission slips are also available at the front desk.  Please know that these clinic dates are subject to change based on the availability of the vaccine and children can only be vaccinated in the schools that they attend.

Photography

Thank you Amy Ruggiero for all of the beautiful photographs!  What a fantastic job you have done for us.  We will be using these pictures in a formal brochure and on the website.  Amy has taken hundreds of very professional photos.  Please let us know if you would prefer not to have your family featured in a public way, we want to honor any concerns as we go forward with these projects.

Dorcas Project
The Dorcas Project has been established as an outreach ministry of AICA to the greater community on Aquidneck Island for the purpose of sharing the love of Jesus Christ by means of providing practical supplies for those in need.  The project has been so named after Dorcas, a God-fearing woman of the New Testament who labored with her hands to make garments for those in need.  Her gifts of love and giving have distinguished her as a disciple and servant of Christ, working to do good to others. "At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas.  This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did."  Acts 9:36.
The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center is a multi service agency providing food, medical care, child care and emergency disaster services to Newport County.  Their food needs are high this year due to the economy and the donations are significantly off from last year.  We would like to make this Thanksgiving our focus for the 2009 Dorcas Project.  The MLK Center prepares Food Baskets to over 200 families.  Please offer some non-perishable items toward this effort over the next few weeks. Here are some suggestions:
Stuffing, Canned potatoes, Cake Mix, Pie Crust, Beef Stew, canned Veggies, Bisquick, Rice, soups, yams, mac&cheese, canned meats, fruits, pb&j, cereal, pasta, juices, pudding, etc.
Simply bring your donations to school beginning this week up until the Monday before Thanksgiving and we will deliver them to the center.

Proverbs for the Week
My son, give attention to my words;
Incline your ear to my sayings,
Do not let them depart from your sight;
Keep them in the midst of your heart.
For they are life to those who find them,
And health to all their bones.
                          Proverbs 4:20-22
