Everyday Justice
Factoid #1
(Check back here in the next few issues for more things you probably didn't know but probably want to.)
"The 2008 minimum fair-trade price for coffee was set at $1.26 per pound (as compared to the average rate of $0.60-$0.70 per pound typically paid to coffee farmers). This price . . . covers the cost of production for most famers and is a decent living wage for many."
—Everyday Justice, page 43
What you can do:
• Buy fair trade
• Ask your local stores to carry fairly traded items
• Get your church to serve fair trade coffee
• Raise awareness (forwarding this email might be one good way to do that)
Justice Can Be Fun!
If you think working for justice every day is stressful, check out this photo of Julie and her daugher sharing a fair trade s'more. See, justice IS fun!

Words of Justice
Zechariah 7:9-10: "This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each other.'"
Finding Julie Clawson
Finding Julie won't be hard if you're coming to the C21 conference in October, where she's one of the 21 speakers. Likewise will be there too, and we can't wait to hear what she has to say. Woot!
