Meeting Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche:
A Personal Account

How truly I’ve taken to heart the Buddhist view of reincarnation became immediately obvious when I first met Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche. While he looks like a young man of sixteen Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche’s presence resonates with the bodhisattva’s intent: a life oriented to serve and benefit others. To meet someone who has come to this world without habitually selfish goals khyentse yangsi rinpochetouches your heart and deepens your faith.

Having the good fortune to meet Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche in Nepal at the start of the Centennial Celebrations at Shechen this February, I wanted to share this experience in a few words and some video, including a short interview with Rinpoche about his aspirations for his world tour. View it now on our YouTube Channel.

I would like also to combine this brief impression with a fundraising request for Celebrating the Return!, Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche’s first visit to America.

Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche's visit is one budding fruit of many in what has already been a generations-long work to bring Dharma to the West. When you meet him, you can’t help but long to be a part of the continuation of this vision, and make a meaningful connection by directly supporting it in some way.yangsi walk

To this end, we recently introduced a creative fundraising vehicle — the Early Bird Ticket — in order to create another avenue for people to contribute to this visit in a meaningful way.
For $1000, of which $625 is a tax-deductible donation, you reserve a general admission seat now before the public sale. Since there has been a strong response to this mutually beneficial option, we've now extended the period for purchasing this special ticket through April.

Premium Donor Packages with front row seating and other benefits continue to be available, starting at $2,500. Many opportunities exist for Targeted Giving as well: donations in any amount, grand or small, that you can designate toward one of the many areas we are currently organizing - from travel expenses to thrones to Personal Care.

Your generosity will help Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche's historic first trip to America be a wonderful expression of devotion. Through this visit we also create a positive tendrel for the future.

And the immediate result of all your donations is that we can keep ticket prices low for our series of events with limited seating.

We look forward to seeing you at a Gathering of Disciples or one of our other events.

Thank you for your support,

Sasha Dorje, Visit Communications
