Crafters' Weekend Friends of the Harrow Fair bring you Crafters' Weekend 2010, Friday, March 12 6:00 pm to Sunday March 14 4:00 pm. Spend the weekend quilting, scrapbooking or working on whatever craft you're into. The cost $100.00 and includes coffee, tea, lemonade and some snacks and supper on Saturday. Trudy's Jacket Wednesday Jan. 27, and Feb. 17, 6:00 - 9:00 Instructor: Trudy Renaud Fee: $40 Level: Intermediate Trudy's jacket is built on a cozy fleece sweatshirt and it will be warm as well as fashionable. Trudy will show you how to take your sweatshirt apart, sew your fabrics on top and then put it back together. Choose coordinates or make one to celebrate a season - Christmas, Halloween, whatever. It's a nice weight for all seasons. Learn to Quilt Thursdays, February 4 for 7 weeks, 6:00 - 9:00 Instructor: Sue Aylesworth Fee: $75 plus supplies Level: Beginners of course If you've never made a quilt or if you want to improve your skills, this is the class for you. We'll help you choose fabrics that are just right for you. Learn good cutting and piecing techniques, how to sandwich and quilt your quilt. And finish off with a beautiful binding. It opens up nice & wide so you can stuff it and then closes up when you pick it up by the handles. Jeannie will show you how to place and apply your grommets and how to finish it like a pro. Make one for you and another for a friend. Valentine Placemat Date: Monday, February 8, 1:00 - 5:00 Inst: Olga Malott Fee: $35.00 Level: Confident Beginner Make it as a special valentine or a placemat, either way it's darn cute! This project is pieced and can be quilted using decorative stitches. For a valentine you might add some embellishments. Kids Can Date: Saturday Feb. 13, 1:00 - 4:00 Inst: Heather Northrup Fee: $15.00 February's project is a lightweight cotton backpack. Choose a conversation print and line it with a contrasting fabric for a fun tote. Braid Runner Date: Thursday, February 18, 1:00 - 5:00 Inst: Olga Malott Fee: $35.00 Level: Confident Beginner and up This runner is a quilt as you go project. Ours is done in pink for Valentines Day but yours could be green for St. Patrick's or special fabrics for a birthday or holiday runner. Fussy cut the center block or insert a small pieced block, go ahead, try something different! Come to class with your strips cut and leave with a finished project. Hand Applique with Anne Date: Saturdays, February 20, March 20, and April 17, 10:00 - 2 and 10:00 to 12:00 Inst: Anne Black Fee: $50.00 Level: Confident beginner & up Learn the finer points of hand applique. Anne will show you how to transfer your pattern, layer your pieces and make that perfect stitch. This whimsical quilt is designed by Chi Chi Quilt Designs and would look pretty in lots of different colourways. Professional Tote Date: Sundays, Feb. 21 and March 7, 12:00 - 4:00 Inst: Jeannie Hopkins Fee: $50.00 Level: Intermediate/Advanced This amazing tote has space for your laptop,water bottle, file folders. - too many features to mention them all. Lots of pockets to hold all the things you need to carry. It would also make a nice sewing tote with space for patterns, books - well, you get it. It's a sturdy construction with a zippered top for security. Sleep Pants Date: Wednesday, February 24, 1:00 - 4:00 Inst: Sue Aylesworth Fee: Free with purchase of supplies Level: Confident beginner and up This is a nice pattern by Kwik Sew and these shorts or long pants would be good for sleeping in or just lounging around. Make a pair for all the men in your life. Choose a conversation print for fun - golf, fishing, cupcakes... the sky's the limit. February Mystery Date: Sunday, February 28, 10:00 - 4:00 Inst: Jeannie Hopkins Fee: $40.00 Level: Confident Beginner and up Come to class with your fabrics cut or let us cut for you. At the end of the day you may just go home with a finished top. Bring a lunch and a coffee cup - get ready for some fun! This one finishes at about 48" x 58". Pineapples Date: Friday, March 5, 10:00 - 1:00 Inst: Sue Aylesworth Fee: Free with purchase Level: Confident Beginner & up This quilt top is foundation pieced on fabric so you will learn about foundation (paper) piecing without having to rip the paper out. The panel has 12 blocks printed on it and you can make it scrappy or colour controlled . 12 blocks will make you a nice crib quilt or table topper, make as many as you like to get the size you want. Jelly Bargelly Saturdays March 6 and 13, 1:00 - 4:00 Instructor: Jeannie Hopkins Fee: $40 Level: Confident Beginner Choose a colour scheme you like and let us help you choose your fabrics. This strip pieced quilt is big enough to be a single bed quilt or a lovely wall hanging. Hand Quilt! Date:Monday March 8, 6:00 - 9:00 Inst: Donna Ward Fee: $25.00 Level: All are welcome Learn how to get started on your hand quilting project. Donna will show you how to sandwich your quilt, mark it and get started stitching. Even if you already quilt by hand you can learn good techniques in this class. Project is a pillow top. |
