Short Statured People of Australia - NSW & ACT Branch With the past few months being so busy, the next few will feel a lot quieter, but there'll be a busy end to the year as always. At our AGM in August we'll start planning all the end of year events and put up the details on the website once they're decided.

NSW Branch MeetingWe held a branch meeting at Troy Parker’s house in Kings Park on Saturday 22nd May, 2010. We were joined by a few members from Victoria who were visiting for the weekend for the trivia fund raiser on the same night. Besides the interstate visitors, numbers were still low. If you’re interested in coming along to meetings we’re always keen to have members come along and have a say in the running of the branch. Trivia NightWe held a trivia night fund raiser on Saturday 22nd May, 2010 at Carlingford Bowling, Sports & Recreation Club. We were raising funds for this year’s Convention being held in Western Australia. As well as the trivia competition, there was a raffle and auction. Whilst the night went very well, the funds raised were lower than recent year due to our lowest turnout for a while. If you’d like to support the branch but haven’t got time to get involved in the running of it, supporting events like these is an easy but also very helpful way to help out. Annual National Sporting WeekendThis year was the SSPA’s 15th Annual National Sporting Weekend in Albury. This weekend was originally introduced in 1995 to provide opportunities for people with short stature to play competitive sport against others like themselves. It began with the State of Origin match between the NSW and Victorian basketball teams and has since progressed into a weekend which provides competitive sporting opportunities for all who attended. Since 1995, Leanne Wegner has coordinated the organisation of this wonderful event and we thank her for all of her time and effort. The weekend has grown from strength to strength and has turned itself into a mini-convention with on average, 80 people in attendance. 2010 saw some new sports added to the agenda including boccia and badminton, as well as the usual State of Origin basketball match between Victoria and NSW. Victoria played a great match and were deserving winners of the Rosemary Hobbs Trophy, 34-19.
