Dear <<First Name>>, We are pleased to invite you to attend the following symposiums to be held at RIT this June. Please visit each of the symposium websites for more information.
The Future of Reading: Provocations, Predictions, Possibilities June 9-12, 2010 Presented by the RIT School of Print Media and RIT Cary Graphic Arts Press Join us in Rochester, New York for provocative and challenging presentations by world-class authors and experts in writing systems, content creation, linguistics, vision and cognition, typography, and visual media that all seek to answer the question: “How will reading change?” The symposium includes keynotes by Margaret Atwood, award-winning author, and Chris Anderson, editor-in-chief, “Wired” Magazine, among many other distinguished speakers. Current Practices in Fine Art Reproduction June 16-18, 2010 This symposium will present results of a 30-month project funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that was undertaken to evaluate current practices in fine art image reproduction, determine the image quality generally achievable today, and establish a suggested framework for art image interchange. Results from multiple experiments will be among the inputs used to construct a conceptual framework of the various types of imaging taking place in cultural institutions at present. Results of the project to date will be presented along with related presentations from other experts. The symposium is designed for people involved in all aspects of art image reproduction in museums, libraries and archives. The symposium will consist of talks, panels, tours, an exhibit, and interactive sessions where the participants can partake in experiments, discussions, and surveys.
