Agency Rulemaking
Two work groups have been formed to work on rules that
apply to brokers and property managers and escrow licensing to address
SB 140, SB 141 and HB 2910 passed this last session. Participants are
from the industry, associations, the Real Estate Board and Agency staff. The brokerage/property
management group met August 12 and the escrow group on August 18. The Education
Work Group will hold their first meeting September 10 to begin rulemaking on SB
640.

"Blue Manual" Update
The “blue manual” has been renamed “Oregon Real Estate Reference Guide.” A “printed”
update was mailed to subscribers this month. This is the last “hard copy” update
to be provided. Future revisions/updates will occur online. The Agency plans a major
rework of the “guide” to provide a more user-friendly reference guide.

Board Meeting Held In Portland
The Real Estate Board meeting was held at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland
on August 3, 2009. The Portland Metro Association of Realtors hosted the meeting.
There were over 40 PMAR members in attendance.

Business Name Registrations
In order to conduct real estate activity under a business name other than your legal
name, a licensee must register and maintain the business name with the Secretary
of State’s office per OAR 863-014-0095. If the business name is allowed to expire
or go inactive with the Secretary of State’s office, that business name is no longer
in compliance with the Real Estate Agency’s rule requirements. If you have any questions
regarding the status of your business registration with the Secretary of State’s

Agency Personnel Changes
Marjorie Fernando will begin work September 1 as the Land Development Specialist.
She comes from the Oregon Judicial Department where she worked in the Court Programs
and Services Division. Prior to that, Marjorie worked with Wachovia Mortgage and
was a real estate broker. She brings a great deal of industry knowledge.
Leandra Soto has accepted the Agency’s Executive Support Specialist position. She
has been filling the Administrative Specialist position for the past two years and
in her new position will continue to provide support to the board, as well as the
commissioner and deputy commissioner.

Reminder About Free Customer Parking at the
Agency
Five parking spaces directly in front of the Agency office are designated as free 30-minute parking spaces
while conducting business at the Agency. You no longer have to park at a metered
space on the street while visiting our office for short periods of time. The
spaces are prominently signed and painted for your convenience.
