Students: Wear a hat Friday

Show your spirit this Friday, May 21.  Wear a hat.
Show your spirit next Friday, May 28.  Wear mismatched shoes.

Parents: Wear anything and lend a hand

Show your spirit .  Volunteer.  We have a number of opportunities for parents to network and help Mission Valley.  Currently, we are looking for one ball-inflating volunteer from 8:45 to about 11:45 on Friday.  This volunteer will help to inflate the record 271 playground balls given out as incentives for our record-breaking Jogathon fundraiser.  Contact theresa@mvsa-fremont.org for location.

On the same day, we also have a Safety Committee meeting for interested parents.  The Safety Committee is a coalition of school staff and parent volunteers whom assess the disaster preparedness of our school and implement ways to keep our children safe.  The meeting takes place on Friday, May 21 3:15pm in our Multi-Use Room (gym).

Mission Valley relies on volunteers for many of the benefits we take for granted.  In the last email, we asked for technical help.  We'd like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to both Sushma Chandrasekaran and Rajashree Krish for stepping forward to volunteer.  Rajashree, a project manager,  is already working on consolidating our database and Shushma,  who works in software development, will also be collaborating to update our website and keep it current.  A little from everyone keeps our school running smoothly - thank you.

Community Activism

In this e-news, we have a number of items of interest from the larger Fremont community.

1.  Gail Edwards-Bryan wants to reach out to Fremont elementary school parents.  You can join up with her on her Facebook page called, "FUSD Parents Against Class Size Increases."

2.  Mission San Jose High School is having a fundraiser -- a "Family Festival" to be held this Saturday, May 22.  Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.  The Tri-City voice has published an article with details on what is being offered, and how to purchase advance tickets.
