Hello everyone. Thanksgiving Day is always special at Our Daily Bread. This year was no exception. Our guests were served a wonderful Thanksgiving meal at tables decorated with holiday table cloths and flowers by a small army of volunteers. Thank you shout outs to: Barb Pflum and parishioners of St. Vincent De Paul and St. John’s in West Chester for the turkey and gravy, Elaine Westrich and parishioners at Our Lady of Visitation for the sweet potato casseroles, Sr. Franette and the Sisters of Charity for all of the homemade pies, and to all of our volunteers who gave of their time on Thanksgiving morning to serve our guests.

A guest story: One of our volunteers recently shared this story: “I attended a dinner event at Xavier University. A tuxedoed waiter approached me, smiled, and whispered, ‘It is an honor to wait on you. You have served me several times at Our Daily Bread.’ The follow-up is that he (the waiter) was featuring shrimp, which I do not like. Do you really think I could say ‘no thank you’? I gratefully took one and ate it. It pleased him so much that he came back to me many more times. I ate more shrimp that night than I hope to ever eat the rest of my life.”

Part one of two: You will be receiving another e-mail from Our Daily Bread this week. We are trying to increase our online activity as a cost effective way to reach out to a larger audience. You are committed to Our Daily Bread. We ask if you would share that commitment with others. When you receive another e-mail from us this week, would you please forward it on to family and friends to help us reach more people and invite them to share in the mission of Our Daily Bread? Thank you so much.

Something to think about: “I have often maintained that the best poet is the baker who does the majestic and unpretentious work of kneading the dough, consigning it to the oven, baking it in golden colours and handing us our daily bread as a duty of fellowship.”
- Pablo Neruda, Chilean poet

Paul
