Whether you agree with WikiLeaks and its supporters that the Afghan War Logs should have been released into the public domain or not, there's no denying that a new form of data-driven, global online journalism is upon us. WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange joins us again this Thursday, along with freedom of information activist Heather Brooke, to explore what it all means for the media and public discourse. Tonight at the club, we discuss online publishing, advertising and whether Google is a friend or foe to news publishers. Google's UK spokesman and former BBC executive Peter Barron will make his case alongside media executives and analysts. Come along to have you say on this vital issue. Our Liberation season continues next week with a screening of Made in Pakistan on Monday, while on Tuesday a panel discussion asks Can unarmed people still change the world? Follow us on Twitter and catch up on any events you missed on the Forum blog or download our podcasts on iTunes. ALL EVENTS ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC DISCOUNTS: For Group bookings over 5 people please call 020 7479 8950 |
