Trouble and strife in Afghanistan and Pakistan

The devastating floods in Pakistan have displaced and ruined the lives of some 14 million people - aid agencies agree the scale of the disaster is unprecedented. And the country was already suffering political and security crises: more than 3,000 people were killed last year in terrorist attacks. We discuss the immediate and long-term prospects for Pakistan in our September First Wednesday event.

We turn attention to Pakistan's troubled neighbour Afghanistan with a screening of Afghanistan in the UK, a film by VBS.tv that investigates British army training camps designed to replicate the hostile environment of the Helmand Province theatre of war.
