Out-of-the Box Social Media

Foursquare is one of the fastest growing geo-social mediums on the market today. This location based medium has already caught on with businesses such as Starbucks and Sports Authority to help with store promotions, but it was EarthJustice's ad that used Foursquare to raise environmental awareness that made it this month's out-of-the box social media idea. While the campaign does have a few shortcomings, it is definitely using this medium to uniquely accomplish a goal. Hope to see more non-profits jump on board this geo-social medium and explore implementing it in their existing mix.

Definitely a risqué new marketing campaign, but also one that catches the attention of the audience and it is something that has already started going viral (hasn't even been a month and already 700K+ views on YouTube).

The Alluvian Hotel was no where near my radar until they suddenly began following me on Twitter. I soon found myself stalking them on the web to learn more about their obscure Mississippi hotel then BAM, I was converted with a full spa, fun filled weekend. This hotel's use of Twitter and Facebook to reach out to prospects is why they have been selected as my most impressive marketer for the month of June. Learn a few tips from this socially savvy and super swanky hotel. Check out their very active Facebook page that utilizes all available functionality (guest photos, reviews, event announcements, etc.) to win over fans in the thousands, including myself.
