Congratulations on all of your incredible work during the Giving Challenge! We were blown away by the energy and determinism that so many organizations put into the Challenge. In all, the Giving Challenge raised $2.1 million through over 105,000 donations. Visit www.causes.com to see the full Challenge results. In this month’s nonprofit update, we share a story from a cause that participated in the Giving Challenge, a new targeting tool in the Partner Center, and another opportunity to win money for your organization!
Cause Spotlight: Atlas Corps
Atlas Corps was one of the top causes in the Giving Challenge. Here’s a short story from Atlas Corps on how they were so successful:
“Atlas Corps’ success was possible because of two main strategies. First, we signed up 150 ‘Campaign Captains’ before the contest started. These Captains agreed to get between 5-10 of their friends to give to Atlas Corps during the contest. Second, we signed up about 50 people to join one of their Giving Clubs. People joined the 30-day, 20-day, 10-day and 5-day giving clubs and made a commitment to go online and donate each day. We also decided to try to win one of the early Day Challenges because we knew it would only get harder with each week. The $42,000 we raised in this contest will allow us to bring four new Atlas Corps Fellows to the U.S. in March 2010. This is a huge victory for us and one made possible by empowering our supporters to go out there and get their friends to donate to us.”
New - Targeted Messaging!
Have you been to the new Nonprofit Partner Center yet? For the past two months we’ve been building new tools to help nonprofits understand and organize their presence on Causes. The newest tool that we’ve released is the ability to specifically message your donors and promoters. This targeted messaging allows you to communicate directly with supporters who have taken action to support your campaign. To send a targeted message, log into the Partner Center at nonprofits.causes.com and click on the “Bulletins” tab. Click “Send a Bulletin” and select “To: Supporters of a Campaign.” When you select a campaign your organization has worked on, you’ll be able to send the email to all members, all members who have donated to the campaign, or all members who have promoted the campaign (invited friends, posted on their Wall, etc). You can even sort by date to only message those supporters who have taken action in the last day, week or month! Win 10k for Kids Programs
We’re excited to announce the Power a Bright Future contest, brought to you by Clorox® Clean-Up®, which wants to help power bright futures for kids across the country. Nominate your favorite non-profit kids program (including yours if you have one) for a chance to win a $10,000 Power a Bright Future grant and feature in People magazine! Just answer three brief questions and your favorite program could win $10,000. Here’s how it works:
Visit the Clorox Clean-Up Facebook Page and answer three questions to nominate your program by November 29, 2009
A panel of children’s advocates will select the top fifty (50) programs
Starting December 7th-January 17th, 2010, users votes determine the winners. Vote once per day and encourage your friends to do the same.
The five (5) entries with the most votes win $10,000 each and a feature in People Magazine!
Even if your cause is not focused on children, please pass along to anyone you know who might have a cause in need of funding. Thanks for your participation and good luck!
We look forward to bringing you more updates next month!
