This summer has been busy for the Causes Team and we have many exciting new announcements for you. Check out the new media board on your cause and join us for a webinar on recruiting this Wednesday!
Feature Update: The New Media Board
One piece of media can spark a movement and now your cause can combine the inspiring power of media with the rapid peer-to-peer sharing on Facebook. Causes’ newest feature allows you to post media that can spread rapidly throughout Facebook. After your members watch a video, view a photo, or read an article on your cause, we verify that they’ve seen the whole thing and then give them the tools to post it to their profile and invite specific friends to watch. They also get credit and encouragement for promoting it through their social network. Importantly, your cause is featured prominently so viewers are prompted to join your cause to stay connected. This new feature is meant to help you get the word out and spread meaningful pictures, videos, and articles. So go to your cause, check out your new media board, and start taking advantage of viral media for your nonprofit!
Cause Spotlight: Lupus Foundation of America
The Lupus Foundation of America’s cause is a great example of grassroots organizing and how having an online strategy can pay off. Wick Davis, the Director of Online Services at LFA, has approached the cause as a place to build community, run advocacy campaigns and fundraise. As a chapter-based organization, it has been a struggle to make sure that members know if they’re supporting a local chapter or the national office, but Wick has built up a national cause that has grown 584% since he took it over six months ago. In the same time frame, the cause has increased donations by 790%! To learn more, check out the LFA cause and Wick’s recent interview in the SmartBlog on Social Media. Webinar: How to Grow Your Cause
On Wednesday, August 5th at 2pm EDT / 11am PDT, Causes will be hosting a webinar on: Growing your Cause: How to recruit more members from inside and outside Facebook.
In this informative webinar, Sarah Koch, Causes Nonprofit Coordinator, will give best practices, tips, and success stories about how to recruit more people to your cause. She’ll discuss how to recruit from within Facebook and off-line, how to motivate your existing members to recruit their friends, and how to leverage our donor match feature, banner ad inventory, and sponsorships to really get the cause growing. If you have been wondering about how to grow your cause or you have other questions about using Facebook for your nonprofit, Sarah will be able to answer questions and provide great insight into this exciting platform.
