Essay Chenin Blanc 2008 This wine blew us away... blew The WIne Advocate away and will blow you away. It's quality is simply baffling.
“…incomprehensible how any wine this good could be so cheap”. “I was knocked out by this wine's quality...would have thought $20 was an attractive price for it....but $8!" Pretty big words for a wine that is almost unheard of! In our search for our perfect Thanksgiving offer we promptly chilled down our sample of the 2008 Essay Chenin Blanc and gave it a go. "How much??" was pretty much the response of the four employee's tasting it. This wine so oversold itself, it was almost unbelievable. The wine is a crisp, clean refreshing blend of Chenin Blanc with just a touch of Viognier. While bone-dry the wine shows a bit of aromatics that will make it a perfect Turkey pairing. So tasty, you can just sip it over and over, melon, pineapple, lemon and lime dominate. Robert Parker is 100% correct on this one... For the money, I can't remember the last white that has been so pleasing and served up such a good value. This is a MUST for everyone. Buy it for Thanksgiving but stock it as your house white. Limited to 2016 bottles. From Robert Parker: "awesome wine value....Essay(95% chenin blanc/5% viognier)...from South Africa....dead-ringer for a dry tasty Loire Valley Chenin....what blows my mind....eight($8) measly dollars...full retail....incomprehensible how any wine this good could be so cheap....flowers and melons...all tank fermented and aged”
